Storing Rubbish

Rubbish can act as a fuel to fire. Follow our advice to store rubbish safely and help to prevent a fire starting or spreading in your neighbourhood.

Storing rubbish safely:

  • Place the refuse outside on the collection day (ensuring this is in line with local authorities)
  • Do not store refuse in corridors, stairwells or your escape route
  • Where possible, try to maintain 3m safe distance from your buildings
  • Site bonfires well away from rubbish, sheds, fences, trees and plants
  • Contact your local authority to check for any current arrangements with regards to collections and opening times/arranges of local recycling sites
