Firefighters were called to a fire in a semi-detached bungalow in Holland-on-Sea.

When crews arrived at the property they reported that the fire was located in the lounge. The two occupants and their four dogs were all safely out of the property, although they were suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation. Firefighters administered first aid to the casualties until the Ambulance Service arrived.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went into the property and extinguished the fire.

Firefighters were called to a house in Colchester after a carbon monoxide alarm alerted occupants to a gas leak.

When fire crews arrived, they reported there was elevated levels of carbon monoxide in the property. Crews ventilated the property and isolated the gas supply.

The two occupants were looked after by the Ambulance Service and were taken to hospital as a precaution.

Firefighters were called to a static caravan on fire in Hawkwell last night (Friday 7 April).

Fire crews reported that the caravan was completely alight.

Firefighters managed to get the fire under control quickly, and had completed extinguished the fire by 11:30pm.

Watch Manager Gary Shinn, Hawkwell Fire Station, said:

"Our crews did a fantastic job of stopping the fire from spreading any further. They took control of the incident and extinguished the fire quickly and efficiently."

Firefighters were called to an industrial recycling yard in Shoeburyness this evening. On arrival, firefighters reported a large amount of metal, mostly crushed vehicles, was on fire.

Control Officers received over 50 calls to the fire as it was creating a lot of smoke and could be seen from the road.

Firefighters rescued a man following a road traffic collision in Tolleshunt D'Arcy.

We were called to Maldon Road today at 5.14pm and crews from Maldon and Colchester attended.

A car was in a ditch and the driver was trapped. Crews stabilised the vehicle and used specialist cutting equipment to free the man by 5.55pm.

They administered first aid before leaving him in the care of the Ambulance Service.

A team of on-call firefighters from Dunmow, Braintree, Halstead and Stansted were called to a house fire in a three-storey house in Almond Road, Dunmow yesterday at 3:35pm.

On arrival, crews reported that the house was heavily smoke logged with a fire in a first floor bedroom.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire by 5pm and believe it was caused by an electrical fault.

Crews were called to a fire at a house in Stanford-le-Hope today.

Firefighters from Corringham, Orsett and Basildon attended the semi-detached house in Branksome Avenue shortly after 3pm. 

They found a well-developed fire on the first floor and fully extinguished it by 4.06pm.

Sadly a man died at the scene.

The cause of the fire has been recorded as accidental.

We were called to a fire at a house in Branksome Avenue, Stanford-le-Hope shortly after 3.05pm today (Tuesday 4 April).

Firefighters rescued a family of three after their boat got stranded on mudflats in Walton Backwaters.

We were called by Coastguards today at 2.28pm after the vessel got stuck in the estuary about a mile from Titchmarsh Marina.

Crews from Weeley, Colchester and our Urban Search and Rescue team attended.

The tide was out so it wasn't possible to get a rescue boat to the yacht. The next high tide was not until 12.15am.

Firefighters assisted at the scene of a road traffic collision in Wickham Bishops today.

Two crews from Maldon attended Langford Road today at 9.07am.

One car was involved and ended up on its side. The driver was out of the vehicle and was being treated by the Ambulance Service when crews arrived.

Station Manager Howard Midwood said: "I'd like to praise Maldon's firefighters who worked quickly and efficiently to clear the scene and make it safe.

"They worked brilliantly with other agencies to get the road open again as soon as possible. 

Firefighters attended a road traffic collision on the A120 eastbound, between Stansted and Takeley.

Crews from Chelmsford (two), Stansted and our Urban Search and Rescue team were called yesterday at 9.23pm and found a car trapped under a lorry.

The driver of the car, who was conscious and breathing throughout, was able to get out of his vehicle and was left in the care of the Ambulance Service.
