Firefighters were called to a fire in an industrial building in Purfleet this afternoon. 

On arrival, crews reported an industrial building which uses material bags to filter dust from aggregate had set alight. 

Firefighters from Grays, Orsett, Brentwood were supported by London Fire Brigade to surround the building and isolate the fire. Using the Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP) to flood compartments at the top of the building with water. 

Firefighters rescued two people after their car reversed into the back of a low wall, trapping them in the vehicle. 

Crews from Stansted and Newport were called today at 3.06pm to Station Road, Stansted. 

Firefighters used stabilising blocks and airbags to clear the rubble and free the passengers by 3.40pm. 

Both casualties were left with the Ambulance Service. 

Watch Manager Claire Harrington said: “The crews worked quickly and professionally to remove the rubble around the car and get the casualties out safely.” 

Firefighters from Southend were called to an incident on Wakering Road, Shoeburyness on Saturday at 12.25pm. 

Crews used Breathing Apparatus to enter the property as it was smoke logged. 

Firefighters believe the fire was caused by an incense stick which was knocked and began smouldering on dust sheets. 

Watch Manager Mark Petty-Mayor said: “As the resident was leaving his property, he accidentally knocked the burning incense stick over with his coat. They were decorating so it fell on some dust sheets and began smouldering.

Firefighters were called to reports of a person in a rowing boat stuck in mud near Heybridge this evening.  

Crews from Wivenhoe and Tollesbury worked with coastguard colleagues to rescue a man stuck in the water using line rescue paths. As well as using drones to monitor the incident. 

The man downloaded the what3words app to help firefighters and the coastguard identify his location. He was brought to safety by 8pm. 

Water Incident Manager Dave Bond said: “The man became stranded in the mud, about 200m from the shore as the tide went out. 

A few inches of water is all it takes to write your car off and could even put your life at risk, that’s the warning from firefighters after rescuing two people in two days from almost 4 ft of water in Buttsbury Wash.

Crews were called to Buttsbury Wash at 08:36m on Thursday 14 December and on arrival reported that a car was stuck in the water with a woman trapped inside. 

Specially trained water rescue firefighters rescued the woman by 9:30am. 

On Wednesday 13 December, crews were called at 6:54 to rescue a person from a car stuck in around 4ft of water.

Firefighters were called to a flat fire in Pallister Road, Clacton in the early hours of this morning.

On arrival, firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus entered the flat and found a pan on fire in the kitchen. 

Crews worked to extinguish the fire and evacuated the rest of the building while dealing with the fire. 

Watch Manager Craig Todd from Clacton Fire Station said: “It’s a busy time of year in our kitchens and we’d encourage everyone to try to keep your focus on kitchen safety. Keep your hobs clear after cooking and switch the hob off. 

Firefighters were called to a fire in an industrial unit in Nobel Square, Basildon at 4pm. 

On arrival, crews reported that a vehicle was on fire within the industrial unit. 

Initially, three crews were called to the scene but when firefighters found cylinders in the building, three further fire crews were requested for support. 

Firefighters worked to prevent the fire spreading throughout the building. 

Crews were called to a bungalow fire in Canvey Island this morning. 

On arrival firefighters reported that the property was completely alight and did a good job in containing the fire and stopping it spreading to any other properties. Unfortunately the bungalow has been completely destroyed.

Following a fire investigation the cause has been recorded as accidental.
