Around five tonnes of hay bales were destroyed following a fire at an agricultural building in Boxted yesterday. Firefighters were called to the premises at 4.50pm on Saturday, 5 February and found a 12 x 8 metre building on fire as well as the manure heap next door to it. The building contained five tonnes of hay. Two adults were treated by the Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters used special breathing equipment to fight the fire. 

Firefighters rescued a woman after a road traffic collision in Hatfield Broad Oak.

Crews from Leaden Roding and Harlow were called by Essex Police to Hammonds Road today at 10.21am.

A car was upside down in a ditch and a woman, who was conscious and breathing, was trapped.

Crews used specialist cutting equipment to rescue her by 11.28am and left her in the care of medics.

Crews were called to a property on Main Road, Mundon earlier today when a passerby noticed a fire in a garage.

Firefighters were called to a property in Mundon at 11:05am, when a fire started in a garage while the occupants were out.

On arrival, crews confirmed that there was a large fire, approximately 10m x 5m, spread across two floors of a garage building.

Firefighters worked hard in difficult conditions to extinguish the fire by 12:04pm, then stayed on-site to dampen down the surrounding area to prevent any fire re-igniting.

Firefighters rescued two dogs during a house fire in Benfleet earlier today.

Crews were called to Southwold Crescent at 12:45pm after a neighbour noticed smoke and dialled 999.

On arrival, crews reported that the rear of the house was 80% alight and the house was heavily smoke logged.

Firefighters rescued two dogs, who were both unharmed during the fire.

Crews extinguished the fire by 1:15pm and believe it was caused by an electrical fault.

Firefighters have worked throughout the day to extinguish a fire in a grain dryer in Great Braxted.

Crews were called to a farm in Great Braxted where a grain dryer - holding approximately 20 tonnes of maize - was on fire.

Due to difficult access to water, crews requested a water bowser from Halstead Fire Station as well as two additional crews from Great Baddow and Maldon to assist with shuttling water to the scene.

Crews left the scene at 1:28am, after confirming the area was completely cool.

Firefighters were called to a property in Tilbury in the early hours of the morning, when a smoke alarm alerted an occupant to a fire outside her front door.

Crews were called to Calcutta Road, Tilbury, at 3:28am, after a woman was woken by her smoke alarm and discovered a fire outside of her home. Our control team stayed on the phone as she waited for crews to arrive, issuing fire survival guidance to keep her and her son as safe as possible.

Firefighters rescued a man from the scene of a road traffic collision earlier this evening, when two cars vehicles collided on a road in Cressing.

Crews were called to a road traffic collision which happened at around 7:31pm this evening.

On arrival, firefighters reported that two cars were involved in a collision and there was one person trapped inside a car.

Crews used specialist equipment to release the casualty by 8:30pm, and he was taken to hospital shortly afterwards.

Firefighters were called to a property in Harlow earlier this evening, when a smoke alarm alerted a mother to a fire in her sons’ bedroom.

Crews were called to Ladyshot, Harlow at 6:30pm, after a mother heard the smoke alarm sounding and discovered a fire in a bedroom.

On arrival, firefighters confirmed there was a fire in the bedroom and the room was heavily smoke-logged.

Crews extinguished the fire, and cleared the property of smoke by 6:47pm, and provided some safety advice to help prevent future fires.

Friday 18 February was an ‘exceptional day’ for the Service.

Between 10am and 9pm, the control room and crews dealt with around 500 calls, with up to 100 calls an hour during the peak of Storm Eunice.

Crews and control room staff dealt with a wide range of incidents including collapsed and damaged buildings, large fallen trees, damage to power cables and small fires.
