Firefighters tackle two deliberate fires at same location

Firefighters have spent the night tackling a fire in Doddinghurst.

We were first called to multiple vehicles on fire in Warren Lane, Doddinghurst at 6:03pm.

A crew from Brentwood Fire Station attended and on arrival, reported that two cars were on fire and a further four were burnt out.

Firefighters extinguished the fire by 6:51pm.

Crews were then called back to the scene at 10:20pm to reports that an outbuilding was on fire.

Six crews were sent to the scene where an outbuilding measuring 20 metres by 10 metres and containing straw was on fire.

Family left homeless after dishwasher fire

A family has been left homeless after a dishwasher fire in Saffron Walden today.

Firefighters were called to Ozier Court at 3:01pm.

On arrival, crews reported that a house was heavily smoke logged.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went into the smoke logged house and found a fire in the kitchen.

Crews extinguished the fire by 3:49pm and believe it was caused by an electrical fault with a dishwasher.

A family of four has been rendered homeless due to smoke and fire damage throughout the property.

Firefighters rescue 35-year-old horse

Firefighters helped a 35-year-old horse get back on his feet today after he fell in a barn in Langdon Hills.

Specially trained firefighters from Chelmsford Fire Station's Animal Rescue Unit attended the incident along with local firefighters from Orsett Fire Station.

The crews worked together to lift the horse with our equipment while he was closely monitored by a vet.

Crews helped the horse back on his feet by 2:17pm and he was left in the care of his owner and the vet.

Bonfire spreads to house

Firefighters were called to a fire in Holland on Sea this afternoon after a bonfire got out of control and spread to a house.

Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire ans stopped the fire spreading to the rest of the property.

Fire at Industrial units

Firefighters have responded to multiple reports of smoke seen in the area near Vicarage Lane West in North Weald.

When the fire crews arrived they reported that the fire was affecting a large commercial building. 

At 7:30pm, firefighters reported the fire was under control and crews were dampening down hot spots.

Crew Manager Ross Daynes said: "

"The fire involved a number of industrial buildings. There was large steel framed buildings, ISO containers and a number of other smaller units.

Electric Blanket starts house fire

Firefighters were called to a house in Wickford after the elderly resident was alerted by their smoke alarm to a fire on the first floor of the property.

When fire crews arrived they see smoke coming from an upstairs bedroom and found the bed alight. Fire crews discovered that the fire had been started by an old electric blanket that was turned on.

Thanks to the working smoke alarm alerted the resident, and the quick response from the firefighters, the fire was contained to the one bedroom.

Carbon Monoxide Alarm alerts family

Firefighters were called to a house in Basildon last night after the carbon monoxide alarm sounded.

When fire crews arrived, they tested the property and found dangerous levels of carbon monoxide. Crews ventilated the property and called in Cadent to safely isolate the gas supply. The property will need a Gas Safe professional to carry out further checks and repairs to the boiler before the gas supply can be safely turned back on.
