Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in a large derelict building in Canvey Island on Saturday night.

Crews confirmed on arrival that the building, which is two storeys and approximately 25 metres by 15 metres, was approximately 10% alight and 30% smoke logged.

At 0.20am, the officer in charge advised that the incident had been divided into sectors as part of efforts to surround the fire.

Firefighters assisted at the scene of a road traffic collision on Sunday evening.

On arrival, crews confirmed that one person was trapped following the incident, which involved two vehicles.

Firefighters managed to free the casualty by 11.07pm, before leaving them in the care of the Ambulance Service.

Firefighters are currently at the scene of a house fire in Bury Lodge Lane, Stansted.

On arrival, crews reported that the roof of a detached house was 100% alight.

Firefighters worked to remove parts of the roof to extinguish the fire and are currently monitoring a smouldering fire and hotspots within the roof.

A family has been rendered homeless due to the damage and an investigation will be carried out later today to establish the cause of the fire.

UPDATE 5pm

Firefighters helped Zoe, a 34-year-old horse onto her feet earlier today after she struggled to get up.

On arrival, crews from Halstead and our animal rescue unit in Chelmsford reported that the large horse was laying in her stable unable to stand. 

Crews used specialist equipment to move her outside of the stable and used a hiab to lift Zoe back onto her feet by 2:08pm.

Zoe then trotted off and was left in the care of her owner.

Firefighters have given safety advice after embers from a bonfire completely destroyed a house, shed and a number of outbuildings in Boreham earlier today.

On arrival, crews reported that a shed and a number of outbuildings were on fire and the fire had spread to a semi-detached house.

Firefighters have been working to extinguish the fire in sections to prevent the fire spreading to the house next door.

Three crews currently remain at the scene to extinguish the fire in sections and monitor hotspots.

Firefighters have given smoking safety advice after discarded smoking materials caused a shed fire.

Crews were called to a shed fire in Layer de la Haye earlier today and on arrival reported that a shed was 100% alight.

Crews extinguished the fire by 5:33pm and believe a cigar which was not properly stubbed out caused the fire.

The shed was completely destroyed and a nearby summerhouse suffered some smoke damage.

UPDATE 1 JUNE:

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing and fire investigation officers have determined it was caused accidentally.

Essex Police has confirmed that a woman has sadly died at the scene. The statement reads:

A woman has sadly died following a fire at a caravan park in Clacton.

Emergency services were called to Highfield Grange Holiday Park just before 10am this morning (Monday 31 May) to reports that a caravan was alight.

Firefighters were called to assist at the scene of a road traffic collision on the M25 between junction 26 and 27.

The collision involved three vans and one lorry.

Fire crews worked with paramedics to help rescue one casualty trapped in their vehicle.

The casualty was released by 4:15pm and left in the care of the Ambulance Service.

The M25 was temporarily shut while firefighters and paramedics were at the scene.

Firefighters rescued a man after a fire in a communal stairwell in a block of flats in Colchester earlier today.;

On arrival, crews reported that the stairwell of a three storey block of flats was heavily smoke logged and rescued a man from inside.

Firefighters gave oxygen therapy to the man who suffered smoke inhalation and he was left in the care of the Ambulance Service.

Firefighters extinguished the fire by 4:20pm.

An investigation into the cause of the fire found it had been started deliberately.

Firefighters were called to assist at the scene of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

The casualty was rescued by 9:15am and left in the care of the Ambulance Service.
