ECFRS supports Clacton businesses after town centre fire

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) has been out in Clacton town centre to support local businesses following a serious fire on Monday 18 August.
The fire began in a second-hand furniture shop and spread to the neighbouring mobility shop in West Avenue, causing disruption for surrounding businesses.
On Tuesday 19 August, specialist fire officers joined by local firefighters to visit shops and businesses nearby to offer advice, check safety measures, and discuss Fire Risk Assessments – a vital step in reducing the risk of fire.
Station Manager Quentin Sage, from Clacton Fire Station, said:
“This fire really showed how vulnerable businesses can be. It was great to meet with local business owners to talk about fire safety, access concerns and the steps they can take to protect their premises.”
Local businesses welcomed the visits and praised the fire service for both the response to the incident and the follow-up support.
