Cycle Challenge for The Fire Fighters Charity

Eight Group and Station Managers from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service will be using their pedal power this weekend to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The North East Command Group Managers, Simon Dedman, Dan Partridge and Scott Meekings, and Station Managers Carl Pullen, Pete Neal, Quentin Sage, Syd Barratt and Stuart Hare will be cycling the entire length of their area, from Manningtree to Burnham, a total of 200km in two days.

Simon Dedman, North East Group Manager, said: “Essex has the longest coastline of any county in England and our north east area is home to the majority of that distance. We thought it would be a good challenge to cycle the coastline and raise money for a great cause too!”

The team will be setting off from Manningtree on Saturday morning, hoping to reach Maldon by the end of the day and completing the journey in Burnham on Sunday.

Simon added: “Our route will include a number of our stations, including Manningtree, Dovercourt, Frinton, Clacton, Brightlingsea, West Mersea, Tollesbury, Maldon and Burnham; so please give us all a wave or a cheer as we pass along!”

The team are hoping to raise as much money as possible for The Fire Fighters Charity.
