Warehouse fire

Firefighters are currently at the scene of a warehouse fire on High Road, Epping. 

If you live in the area please close your windows and doors as there is a lot of smoke coming from the fire. If you are driving on the M11 you may see smoke, please slow down and drive carefully. 

It is a warehouse measuring approximately 100m by 30m, consisting of four units. With two units fully alight. 

Crews from Harlow (two), Waltham Abbey, Loughton, Old Harlow, Leaden Roding and Brentwood are in attendance. As well as an aerial ladder platform, a drone pilot and a water bowser. 

Incident Commander Howard Midwood said: "When crews arrived they were faced with a well developed fire in a large warehouse. They have worked hard to stop the fire from spreading. We will remain at the incident for at least another 15 hours to make sure the site is safe and fully cool before handing it back to the owners. 

"I'd like to thank the local residents for their patience while we deal with this incident. As well as the site owners, our Control Operators, and colleagues from the Police, Ambulance Service and UK Power Network for their support during the incident. 

"A full fire investigation will be carried out when it is safe to do so."
