Tumble dryer causes pub fire

Firefighters were called to a tumble dryer fire in a pub in Colchester earlier today.

On arrival, crews reported that a flat above the pub was smoke logged.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus found a fire in a tumble dryer and extinguished it by 8:27pm. The cause of the fire was accidental after the contents of the tumble dryer had overheated while the dryer was on.

Crews ventilated the pub and with the damage contained to the washing machine, the flat and pub were safe to return to.
