Industrial unit fire

The fire is now out and crews will remain on scene to dampen down hotspots. 

A fire investigation will take place to establish the cause when it is safe to do so. 

We're currently at the scene of an industrial unit fire near the A127 at North Benfleet. 

We have eight crews on scene working to extinguish a fire affecting two industrial units.

If you live nearby or are travelling in the area, please keep your windows closed as the scene is producing lots of smoke.

Station Manager Steve Osborne said: “We’re currently working to extinguish a fire affecting the roof space of two industrial units. We have eight crews working to extinguish the fire in sections as well as using an aerial ladder platform to tackle the fire from above.

"Due to a difficult water supply in the area, we're using a Water Bowser to supply water to the scene"
