Garage fire spreads to house

A fire investigation has been carried out and the cause recorded as accidental. 

Firefighters were called to a house fire at Beach House Gardens, Canvey Island, at 2.17pm this afternoon following multiple reports of a fire.

On arrival, crews reported that a garage fire had spread to the first floor and roof space of a detached house. By 3.21pm, the incident commander confirmed that firefighters had surrounded the fire.

Crews continued tackling the blaze for another hour, using an aerial ladder platform to remove roof tiles and dampen down the building.

At 4.36pm, the incident commander reported that the fire was out. Crews will remain at the scene to make sure the area is safe and fully cooled.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out when it is safe to do so.
