Fire in a laundrette
Firefighters were called to a fire in a laundrette in Tallon Road, Hutton last night at 10:23pm.
On arrival, four crews reported a laundrette was heavily smoke logged and firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus entered the building to extinguish the fire.
An investigation carried out to determine the cause of the fire found it started accidentally.
Watch Manager Wakelin from Brentwood Fire Station said: “Firefighters worked together to take cages of wet and heavy washing out of the building to access the fire and to stop it spreading throughout the laundrette and to the building next door.”
Fire safety reminder for laundry businesses
Due to the nature of laundry operations - high heat equipment, build-up of lint, and the use of chemicals - it's essential to regularly review your fire risk assessments and safety procedures. Take a moment today to ensure your business is operating safely and meets current fire safety regulations.
