Electrical fault causes garage fire

Firefighters were called to a garage fire near Pine Crescent, Hutton at 3.29am this morning.

The neighbours were woken up to a loud bang and saw smoke coming from the property, they called 999 immediately.

When firefighters arrived to the property, the garage was fully alight. They used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire by 4.01am.

Watch Manager Vincent Norton said: “Crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire, luckily the garage was detached from the house so the fire didn’t spread.

“The cause of the fire was an electrical fault in the fridge or the freezer which were in the garage.
