Crews extinguish wildfire in Braintree
Firefighters have spent the afternoon extinguishing a wildfire near Cressing, Braintree.
On arrival, crews requested additional support from Halstead's water bowser and an off-road vehicle from Burnham.
Using what3words - rephrase.loosens.noon - firefighters were able to find the location.
The fire was covering approximately five hectares of stubble, cornfield and hedgerow.
Station Manager Scott Fretton said: "Crews worked hard in hot and dry conditions to surround the fire which ended up jumping over the railway line to a small embankment.
"We had some difficulty finding access points for the site so I would encourage everyone to download the what3words app. This helps our colleagues in Control find the exact location of the incident and get our crews there quickly."
