Crews extinguish warehouse fire
Crews extinguished a fire affecting a warehouse in Widdington.
We were called to Mole Hall Lane yesterday (19 June) at 8.25pm and crews from Newport, Thaxted, Stansted, Saffron Walden (two) and Great Dunmow attended.
The single storey building, measuring about 25 metres by 25 metres, was completely alight when crews arrived.
Group Manager Scott Meekings said: "Crews worked hard to protect the surrounding fields and establish a water supply from a nearby stream
"Unfortunately the building and its contents, party and wedding supplies, were destroyed and our thoughts go out to the business owners."
Crews extinguished the fire by 11.47pm and remained at the scene until 12.42am turning over and checking for hotspots.
An investigation will be carried out to establish the cause.
