Crews extinguish fire affecting camper van and containers
Crews extinguished a fire affecting a camper van and containers.
We were called to Creephedge Lane, between East Hanningfield and Woodham Ferrers, today (Tuesday 24 June) at 8.22am, and crews from Chelmsford (two), Maldon and Rayleigh Weir initially attended.
Station Manager John Warmann said: "Crews did a great job of stopping the fire from spreading, removing cylinders to prevent the incident escalating and protecting surrounding risks.
"They worked hard to establish a water supply and extinguish the fire, then used an Aerial Ladder Platform from Southend to remove roof panels and extinguish hotspots.
"Unfortunately the camper van was destroyed but crews did a fantastic job of limiting damage to vehicles and other contents in the containers."
Crews left the scene shortly after 1pm.
We believe the fire started with an electrical fault in the camper van, which was parked next to the units.
