Incident

Four dogs rescued after shed fire

Firefighters were called to a garden fire in Notley Road, Braintree at 1:17pm.

On arrival, three crews (Braintree, Chelmsford and Halstead) reported a shed fire had spread to a garage and requested a further crew from Dunmow.

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire and prevent it spreading.

While at the scene, crews rescued four dogs who were in a kennel in a garden.

Diesel, Flo, Gigi and Miley were unharmed during the incident and have been reunited with their owners.

Group Manager Scott Meekings said: “Crews worked quickly to get the fire under control and stop it spreading and I’m really pleased we were able to get to the dogs quickly before the smoke started to affect them.

“While the fire is out, Notley Road will be closed for some time while we make the scene safe. We know this will cause disruption near the local schools during pick up time, thank you for your patience while we deal with this incident.”
