Thankyou Thursday: Owner thanks firefighters for rescuing elderly horse
Firefighters have been thanked for helping a 29-year-old horse out of a ditch after a fall.
Crews from Colchester, Chelmsford and Great Baddow were called to Feering at 8:15am on 9 June after 29-year-old Murphy had fallen into a ditch.
Crews worked carefully to help Murphy back onto his feet. Murphy, who will be 30 in two weeks time, spent the rest of his day grazing happily.
His owner, Katie, has thanked the firefighters for their quick and gentle rescue.
Katie said: “I just wanted to say a massive thank you! They were so quick and gentle with him. They were amazing! Thank you so much, he’s now grazing happily.”
Could you be an on-call firefighter?
Some of the firefighters at Great Baddow Fire Station are on-call firefighters who live or work within 5 minutes of the fire station and are paid to protect their local community.
