Residents are Safe, Well and Secure in Saffron Walden
Community Safety teams have been out and about in Saffron Walden this week as part of a multi-agency #safewellsecure six day safety event, from 24 to 29 September.
Emergency services and partner organisations have been working together across the town, sharing resources and making sure people are safe in their homes.
Teams have been out knocking on residents’ doors checking they have working smoke alarms - with our Fire Safety Technicians ready to fit a new one if they are broken or do not have one installed.
Station Manager James Taylor said: ”This week we have visited just under 3,000 homes in Saffron Walden ensuring all properties have a working smoke alarm.
“Our Fire Safety Technicians have already fitted over 149 smoke alarms this week and three safe guarding referrals have been made.
“We have been working with 35 partner agencies, including Essex Police and Uttlesford District Council to make sure everyone in Saffron Walden is #safewellsecure in their home. Information packs were also given out to all house-holds which provided home fire safety advice and leaflets from our partner organisations.
James added: “Thanks to everyone involved and made this week possible, especially to Watch Manager Paul Pemberton for orgainising and pulling the highly successful event together.”
A number of initiatives have taken place this week, including an information stall in market square were Anglian Community Enterprise (ACE) carried out health checks, as well as a dementia awareness session at the library and a care and housing event at Uttlesford District Council.
