Essex County Fire and Rescue Service

Home fire safety advice on YouTube

As an emergency service, keeping people safe is always our main priority, but in challenging times like this it is more important than ever to reach people in different ways.

Data tells us accidental house fires are more likely to happen when people spend more time at home, which is why we’ve created a number of videos to help people understand how they can stay safe in their home, particularly at a time we may be less likely to be able to visit them.

The videos give advice on areas such as kitchen safety, testing smoke alarms and escape plans, as well as ideas on how to get children involved. They also give more detail about alternative ways people can access our home safety service through these challenging times.

We have committed to keeping our 0300 303 0088 home safety number open for as long as we are physically able to.

In the coming days we’ll have more information about how we’re planning on ensuing our most vulnerable people are still able to access our safe and well visits. In the meantime be sure to watch our latest videos and share them where you can.

You can see the whole playlist of videos on our YouTube channel, and we'll continue adding to them as we make more.
