Funding for local good causes on offer, courtesy of Colchester Fire Swim

Following a successful Fireswim held at Colchester Leisure World last October, organisers are looking for local organisations which could benefit from funding.

Colchester Fire Swim has been running for more than three decades, with more than half a million pounds being raised for good causes during that time.

50% of the money raised each year is donated to the Firefighters’ Charity, while a committee will then choose a variety of local causes to benefit with the remaining funds.

Jeremy Tuckwell, event organiser and Chair of Colchester Fire Swim, said: “The event was a success and thousands of pounds has been raised, but we now need to make sure we collect the last of the sponsorship money.

"We also want to hear from local charities who think they could benefit from funding.

“Funding applications are open until 1 July so if you are part of a local group who could benefit, let us know what you plan to use the money for.”

Teams with outstanding sponsorship should pay into the bank using the paying in slip supplied at the event.

To apply for funding, email or write to Colchester Fire Swim, Colchester Fire Station, Cowdray Ave, Colchester, C01 1XT.

This year's event will take place on 6 October 2018 - if you would like to enter, please email
