Do you live or work in South Woodham Ferrers?
Come to South Woodham Ferrers open day on Sunday 22 September.
South Woodham Ferrers Fire Station is on the look-out for new on-call firefighters, who are a vital part of today's fire and rescue service.
The call comes as part of Essex County Fire and Rescue Service’s countywide on-call firefighter recruitment campaign.
An on-call firefighter is ‘on call’ to respond to a range of emergencies and engages with their community.
They have everyday lives and jobs, until the pager sounds - then they become professional firefighters, on the front line, saving lives.
On-call firefighters are paid for their commitment and they receive thorough training and learn all they need to know about emergency situations.
Al Green, Station Manager for South Woodham Ferrers, said:
"Being an on call-firefighter is a rewarding career and can bring so many skills and benefits to you and your employer as well as your personal life.
"On-call firefighters are an inspiration, as they often have full time jobs and do the role alongside this or use their spare time to be on call all to keep their local communities safe.
"We're encouraging anyone who is interested in finding out more to come and chat to us at our open day."
To become an on-call firefighter you must live or work within five minutes of South Woodham Fire Station, be over 18 and be physically fit, though support will be given to help you meet fitness requirements.
South Woodham Fire Station is holding an open day on Sunday 22 September between 10am - 4pm.
