CharityTuesday: Leigh firefighters raise £400 for Lily
Leigh firefighters have donated £400 raised by last month’s Christmas Fayre to support a local girl’s treatment.
Lily, who lives in the area, was diagnosed with an aggressive malignant brainstem tumour a few months ago and is trying to raise £300,000 to get treatment in the United States, which isn’t available in this country.
Station Manager Dave Walpole from Leigh Fire Station, said: “Lily only lives a couple of miles from the station and came along recently to have a look around and ask lots of questions.
“Thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas Fayre – both those who came along and everyone who helped to arrange it.
“The event is always popular with the community and it’s great that our firefighters are able to use it to help people in need like Lily.”
So far more than £40,000 has been raised to support Lily. If you would like to show your support, please visit her GoFundMe page.
