Unknown substance at sorting office

Firefighters are working with the Police and Ambulance Service following reports of an unknown substance at a sorting office in Chelmsford.
Firefighters are using equipment from the Service's Detection, Identification and Monitoring (DIM) unit to help identify the substance.
Update 11:40am - Firefighters have concluded their search following investigations at the scene. The fire service has now left the site.
"An ambulance, two ambulance officer vehicles and three Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles were called to the Royal Mail centre at Winsford Way, Boreham shortly after 6am today (Aug 11) following reports that a number of people had come into contact with a chemical substance. Five people were assessed and after observation, discharged at the scene."
A Royal Mail Spokesperson said: "An employee displayed mild rash symptoms from handling a parcel with a suspected substance at Royal Mail's Chelmsford Mail Centre. The employees was treated on site by the Ambulance service and is showing no serious symptoms. As a precautionary measure, the building has been temporarily evacuated. We have launched an immediate investigation into the incident."
