Firefighters rescued a woman and her child from a flooded road earlier today.

Crews were called to Buttsbury Wash near Billericay after a car had become stuck in flood water.

Firefighters used a water rescue raft to rescue a woman and a child from the vehicle by 11:49am.

Follow our advice to help you stay safe while driving on wet roads:

  • If you come across a flooded road, turn around and find another route 
  • Reduce your speed 
  • Allow extra braking distance
