Scrapyard fire extinguished

Three crews extinguished a fire at a scrapyard.

Firefighters were called to reports of a small fire in Slough Lane, Ardleigh today at 12.27pm.

The first crew to arrive reported approximately 20 tonnes of scrap metal alight and requested support.

Firefighters set up a water relay, spacing engines at intervals between the water source and the fire. Diggers at the site were used to help break up the scrap metal. 

The fire was extinguished by 1.42pm. It has been recorded as accidental.
