Two sheds were destroyed and a log summerhouse was badly damaged in a fire in Colchester.

Crews were called to Willett Road today at 1.06pm and found a fire affecting three properties. Two gas cylinders also had to be cooled down.

The fire was extinguished at 2.17pm but two sheds and a large section of fencing were destroyed and a summerhouse was badly damaged.

Station Manager Danny Partridge said: "We requested a third crew due to the firefighters and amount of water needed.

"Our crews did an outstanding job fighting the fire for so long on what was a very hot day."

An investigation to determine the cause is continuing.
