Two people were rescued after their car ended up on its roof in a field about a quarter of mile from the road.

Firefighters were called to reports of an accident involving one vehicle in Sudbury Road, Castle Hedingham today at 2:08pm.

Two people were trapped in a car which had landed upside down in a field.

Crews worked with the Ambulance Service to stabilise the vehicle. The casualties were freed, without the need for cutting equipment, at 2:59pm, and crews helped to carry them to the ambulances.

Crew Manager Lee Bacon said: "The vehicle had left the road and continued some distance across a field before landing on its roof.

"It made the rescue more difficult because crews had to carry the equipment across the field and carry the casualties back, but they worked really well with the ambulance crews."
