Crews were called to an industrial unit after reports of a well developed fire in a building.
On arrival firefighters reported that what appeared to be a timber framed building, measuring around 50m x 60m, was completely alight.
At 8.30pm Group Manager Dave Barnard said:
"When firefighters arrived they were faced with a rapidly developing fire that was in danger of spreading to a nearby larger warehouse, which contains a number of small businesses.
"Crews from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and London Fire Brigade have worked incredibly well together to prevent the spreading of the fire and have now confined it to the area it started in.
"Now the fire has been surrounded we'll work to fully extinguish it and then stay at the scene for some time to turn over hotspots and ensure the scene is cool and safe."
There are no reported casualties.
At 9.30pm the Incident Commander reported that the fire had been extinguished.
Firefighters will carry out an investigation into the cause of the fire.
Have your say on the future priorities of Essex County Fire and Rescue Service
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service has launched a public consultation - a ten minute survey asking the public of Essex about how our future priorities are delivered.
The consultation is a chance for the local community to tell us what matters to them and what approach they think we should take. The responses will enable us to develop an Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP) in the New Year.
