Incident Number: 74341
In attendance: 1 x Loughton, 1 x Woodford (London Fire Brigade)
Firefighters were called to a house fire this morning after occupants were alerted by a smoke alarm.
On arrival, crews reported that the kitchen of a one-storey property was well alight.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen, before extinguishing it completely by 10.51am.
The fire was caused accidentally after cooking oil ignited. One female in her 20s was left in the care of the Ambulance Service after suffering from smoke inhalation.
This incident shows how important smoke alarms are: the excellent protection they provide allowed this fire to be contained before it became much more serious.
