Essex Officer in Haiti Update

Terry Webb

Terry Webb, the ECFRS Officer in Haiti, has reported that he is fine following aftershocks which measured 6.1 on the Moment Magnitude Scale and hit the island today.

Station Officer Webb - who lives in Thorpe Bay and manages the USAR station in Lexden - has also reported on the good work being done by UK teams in Haiti.

His most recent text reads: “Going well working hard it’s a very large complex operation, expect to be here for approx another week. Been in contact with UKISAR and they are fine a lot of good work done. The USAR mission has been one of the biggest even know.

“I am fit and well fully embedded into the UNDAC team doing assessments. SAR phase now starting to close down and move into cluster phase etc which we are starting to do more detailed assessments.”

Station Officer Webb has been carrying out assessment missions, often getting an aerial view of the island and helping to make sure that rescue missions are sent to the right place.

Following the aftershocks he has been carrying out assessments of the new epicenter.
