Mike Clayton is a Chartered Management Accountant with extensive commercial experience in public sector and service organisations. He was appointed as Finance Director and Treasurer in January 2005, combining the two roles. He is the responsible Officer under Section 151 of the Local Government Act. Prior to joining the Fire Authority, he worked as Financial Controller for the Office of Communications during the period it was being formed from the merger of five regulatory bodies. He also has public sector experience with the Independent Television Commission and commercial experience as a divisional Finance Director with Stagecoach plc in the UK and Portugal. He trained as an accountant with London Transport and has a BSc(Econ) degree from the London School of Economics.
