Essex County Fire and Rescue Service offers a 24/7 service to the press. Our incident database is updated on a regular basis by the media team and we have established a hotline - 01376 570 814 - where you will be able to reach us round-the-clock. We do ask that routine check calls are not made between 10pm and 6am, because all items of interest will be posted here as they happen. Please note this is NOT a service for the public and press from outside our local area are asked politely to adhere to these guidelines.
Photographs from incidents may be downloaded for publication. These may be used free of charge by all accredited newspapers and media agencies providing they carry a credit to Essex County Fire and Rescue Service. Breaches of this arrangement will result in an invoice of £70 per image. Our film footage may also be used under similar arrangement.

Details: Kitchen fire - man suffers smoke inhalation

Firefighters gave first aid and oxygen therapy to a 17 year-old man who had burned his right hand and suffered the effects of smoke inhalation following a fire in the kitchen of a ground floor flat.
The fire was restricted to the cooker in the kitchen, crews had extinguished it by 12:08hrs, They used one hose reel jet and wore two sets of breathing apparatus, once the fire was out they used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the property.

Firefighters tackled a fire in the bathroom of semi-detached house. Wearing two sets of breathing apparatus and using one hose reel jet crews had extinguished the fire 19:25hrs. They also used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear smoke from the house. -

Firefighters are tackling a fire which is raging over six hectares of stubble in Epping. Initially the fire was at risk of spreading to nearby properties, but the incident commander called for more crews and firefighters now have all surrounding risks covered and the fire surrounded.
Crews are using two hose reel jets and beaters to fight the fire.
Update - The fire was extinguished by 16:58hrs. Firefighters used four main jets two hose reel jets, four water back packs and beaters to tackle the blaze.
The cause of the fire has been recorded as undetermined.

Firefighters rescued a one year-old horse which had become trapped in a ditch. Crews used a Moffet Mounty - off road forklift truck - to release the yearling from the ditch by 11:46hrs. -

Firefighters tackled a fire in a pile of rubbish this morning. Using one foam jet they had extinguished the fire by 07:55hrs.
A large number of fridges invplved in the fire so the incident has been reported to the Environment Agency.

Firefighters tackled a fire involving one bin, one skip and two cars in the early hours today.
The fire was extinguished by 02:26hrs. Crews used four hose reel jets and wore two sets of breathing apparatus. A full investigation will take place to establish the cause of the fire.

Firefighters are tackling a fire in two adjoining houses.
The officer in charge reports that one house is 100% well alight and the second house 50% alight.
Crews are working to make sure the fire does not spread to any other adjoining houses.All of the occupants of the houses are accounted for.
Firefighters are using two main jets and two hose reel jets to fight the blaze.
Update - The Fire was fully extinguished by 01:18hrs. Crews used four hose reel jets and four main jets. One man was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation and two families were left homeless by this fire.
A one fire engine relief crew remained on the scene until 03:37 turning over and damping down.

Fire crews were called to an RTC invloving two vehicles. One vehicle, a Taxi containing the driver and four customers were able to exit the vehicle once it had come to a stop unaided suffering only minor injuries. One woman was trapped in the second vehicle which mounted the central reservation crashing into in a lamp post. Fire Crews worked along side the Ambulance Service using hydraulic cutting equipment to free the woman, whilst Police protected the scene and diverted traffic around the incident. Crews released her by 20:20 and she was placed in the care of the Ambulance Service.

Details: RTC - one man trapped

Firefighters released a man from his car following a one vehicle RTC in which his car left the road and ended up on its side. Using one set of hydraulic cutting equipment crews had released him by 08:54 leaving him in the care of the ambulance service.
