Students pass special course in Ingatestone
A group of 10 schoolchildren have passed a special course in Ingatestone in front of their teachers, friends and family.
Students from Shenfield School, in Shenfield, and Grove House and St Martin’s schools, both in Brentwood, completed a five-day Firebreak course by receiving certificates at Ingatestone Fire Station, on Friday, March 5.
Funded by Brentwood Borough Council, the programme included wearing specialist breathing apparatus, climbing ladders, taking part in mock-rescues and using powerful hose reels.
The Essex County Fire and Rescue Service course also included first aid and team building exercises.
Sub Officer Mark Crouch, who was lead instructor on the course, said: “The students and their schools should be proud of their achievements. I hope they can take the skills learnt back into their classrooms and schools.
“The group were a delight to teach and they showed great enthusiasm and dedication while taking part in the activities.”
