Staying safe in Uttlesford
Keep safe and well. That was the message from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and the Uttlesford Community Safety Partnership at a Safer Living event in day centres throughout Uttlesford.
There were five events held across the district for local residents who are aged over 55 and all included presentations from ECFRS, Uttlesford Council, Essex Police, the voluntary sector and Papworth Trust.
Attendees were also treated to lunch after an armchair exercise session designed to help them work up an appetite. Some 250 local residents will benefit from the initiative which delivers advice in a light-hearted, fun way.
Jackie Wain from Takeley, who attended the event, said: “It was an absolutely excellent event and all the speakers were very interesting.”
Phyllis Latham, another local resident, agreed. She added: “The advice given was very clear and the information provided was very useful.”
Community Safety Liaison Officer for the area James Taylor said: “I would like to thank all our partners for their support and input into this event. I am sure everyone who attended picked up invaluable tips and further contacts in order to keep safe and secure.”
