Stansted Crews raise thousands for charity
Stansted firefighters raised a whopping £4,661 for two charities with a collection at the weekend.
The crew from Stansted Fire Station walked through Stansted Village with collection buckets for The Motor Neurone Disease Association and Alzheimer's Society on Saturday, December 19. Generous villagers made sure they raised a huge amount in just six hours
The team of 10 also gave safety and fire alarm advice.
Stansted firefighters started collections around 20 years ago and have raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities including Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, Prostate Cancer UK, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Leading Firefighter Peter Cracknell said: “Stansted Village has a tight knit community and people always give generously during our collections.
“We have raised tens of thousands for many fantastic charities and causes. The collections also allow us to give some vital safety advice.
“I would like to thank everyone who made the day such a success, especially those who donated to these worthy causes so generously.”
