Shopping centre consultation exhibitions
Shoppers will have a chance to learn more about Essex County Fire and Rescue Service’s plans for the future at a series of events taking place at shopping centres across the County.
The exhibitions will give people an opportunity to talk to Service officers about the proposed options for change in their local area, as well as a chance to fill out a questionnaire and take part in the consultation there and then.
The consultation, which runs until April 25, sets out three options for change which will prepare the Service a future which is likely to see an increase in the amount of prevention and protection work carried out by the Service while the number of incidents it attends continue to decrease. These options will also ensure the Service remains financially viable as it faces reductions in funding every year until 2020.
Since the survey launched on February 1 more than 3,000 people have already taken part in the consultation.
The shopping centre exhibitions follow a series of 17 library events held in February and March.
Senior Divisional Officer Paul Bowers, Business Change Manager, said: “These events are a great way to learn about the future of the fire service in Essex and the proposals we are consulting over.
“The response we have had so far has been fantastic but we want to make sure as many people as possible have an opportunity to make their voice heard. These exhibitons will give anyone a chance to talk to our officers, ask and questions they might have and take part in the consultation there and then.”
