Seawick Day of Action

A community day of action has resulted in hundreds of people living in Saint Osyth benefiting from home and fire safety advice.

Firefighters from Clacton Fire Station along with ECFRS community safety officers and home safety technicians spoke to over 325 people living at Seawick Holiday Park on Saturday, June 4.

More than 130 smoke alarms were fitted and 80 homes will receive a home safety visit from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.

Leading Firefighter Andy Barber, Clacton Fire Station’s Green Watch, helped organise the event.

He said: “Following several fires that our crews have attended at the holiday resort, we were keen to check that all properties had working smoke alarms.

“We spent the day knocking on every property at the holiday park, fitting over 130 smoke alarms and giving home and fire safety advice.

“The day was an amazing success in promoting fire safety while making Seawick’s community safer.”

Last month, more than 180 smoke alarms were installed in homes at two other seaside holiday parks in Essex.

Maldon firefighters teamed up with an ECFRS community safety team by knocking on 250 doors at Mill Beach Seaside Resort and Barrow Marsh Caravan Park, in Heybridge.
