New parents receive safety advice in Dovercourt
New parents were shown how to keep their babies and toddlers safe at special safety days at Dovercourt Fire Station.
The events gave parents help and advice on first aid and fire safety including smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors and the importance of planning an escape route.
ECFRS Community Builder, Les Nicoll, gave safety advice while Sub Officer Russ Freeman gave first aid demonstrations.
The events were organised by Sub Officer Karen Nicoll, who works for the Service’s Road Safety Team, and also included car seat safety guidance and postnatal advice from senior physiotherapist, Tanya Jewell.
The two classes took place on Wednesday April 20 and 27.
Sub O Karen Nicoll said: “The safety days were an excellent opportunity for parents, grandparents and carers of babies and toddlers to gain essential safety advice.
“Both days were a huge success and will help keep people of all generations in the County safer in their homes and in their communities.
“I would like to thank all those who attended and Colchester General Hospital for supporting the event. I hope this is one of many more Essex County Fire and Rescue Service will provide in the future.”
