Heart radio supports ECFRS's smoke alarm campaign
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service has joined up with Heart Radio to produce a video highlighting the importance of smoke alarms.
The video, which is available on ECFRS website as well as on the Heart Radio website, features ECFRS Community Builder Lin Kettley talking about how we can all be safer at home.
According to national statistics, 88% of homes have a working smoke alarm; Essex County Fire and Rescue Service wants to make that 100%.
Community Builder Lin Kettley said: “Smoke alarms are proven life savers. They give you early warning should the worst happen in your home, giving you enough time to get your family out safely and call the fire service out.
“Currently there are 93,000 households in Essex which do not have working smoke alarm. We want to make sure that every single home in Essex has smoke alarm protection. We will visit your home, carry out a safety inspection, give you all the advice you need and fit smoke alarms entirely free of charge.
“The visit doesn’t even have to be for you. Maybe your relative or neighbour could benefit from one too.”
