Head-on-crash exercise in Canvey
A special exercise in Canvey tested how firefighters would deal with a major road incident last night (Tuesday, March 15).
The simulation saw 20 firefighters from Canvey Fire Station respond to a head-on-collision between two cars in Northwick Road, which left multiple casualties trapped.
The scenario involved releasing the casualties out of both vehicles using cutting and rescue equipment.
Both of Canvey’s fire engines attended the exercise, which was organised by Leading Firefighter Kevin Dove.
He said: “The exercise was a great success and it has helped sharpen the skills and knowledge of our firefighters in Canvey.
“The scenario was complicated because one of the vehicles had turned onto its side. Both cars were strategically placed to put our firefighters' skills to the test.
“Crews worked well as a team and were prompt and professional. I would like to thank everyone involved in the exercise.”
