Halstead trio finish fire ride
Halstead firefighters have completed a 60-mile cycle through two counties for charity.
Crew members Steven Byrne, Steven Hill and Liam Stanhope took part in the Suffolk Fire Ride from Sudbury Fire Station on Sunday, June 26.
The challenge saw over 90 cyclists raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity.
The route, organised by Suffolk Fire Service, included using Halstead Fire Station as a midway stop for cyclists needing short breaks and refreshments.
The ECFRS team raised £260 for the cause and completed the challenge, despite suffering five punctures along the way.
Station Officer Byrne said: “The event was a great success with dozens of cyclists taking part and stopping at our fire station for breaks.
“The route was a mixture of beautiful countryside and difficult terrains, with a few steep inclines to test participants.
“We had a few setbacks because of a handful of punctures but I’m pleased we crossed the finishing line together.”
