Fire Minister Visits Service HQ
Fire Minister Mark Francois MP visited Service HQ, Kelvedon Park, on Friday July 10 where he met Acting Chief Fire Officer Adam Eckley, Members of the Strategic Management Board and Essex Fire Authority Chairman Cllr Anthony Hedley.
It was his first official fire Service visit after Mr Francois, who is MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, was appointed to the post in May.
During the visit he learned about the huge consultation exercise the Service is undertaking as it prepares for the future and had a chance to see the new Control and Training facilities which have recently been developed at Kelvedon Park.
Acting Chief Fire Officer Adam Eckley said: “It was an honour to host the Fire Minister on his first official fire service visit in his new role.
“It gave us a chance to show him the excellent work which is taking place here in Essex and the fantastic progress we are making across all aspects of our work including prevention, protection and response.
“We also had a chance to tell him about the consultation exercise we are currently undertaking as part of the 2020 programme and our IRMP consultation and explore the exciting work we are doing to redesign our organisation as we get ready to embrace new opportunities and face the challenges of the future.
“The Minister also had a tour of our headquarters including the recently developed training and control facilities. It was an extremely productive visit and we look forward to our next meeting.”
