FireCar is the latest tool Essex County Fire and Rescue Service will use to help spread road safety messages throughout the county.
The vehicle, a new Ford Focus ST3 donated by Ford, will attend gatherings of car enthusiasts and help the Service engage with young drivers. It will be used to target cruiser events, where large gatherings of people with modified cars get together to show off their vehicles.
In the same way that FireBike has successfully engaged bikers, the car will be used to pitch safety messaging to young motorists.
Sub Officer Kevin Jenner, RTC Reduction, said: “This vehicle will give us an opportunity to engage with young drivers and help us deliver important road safety messages to them. The car will create a talking point which gives us a chance to give the drivers who attend these cruiser events the information they need to stay safe on the roads.”
