Essex County Fire and Rescue Service

Excellent result for RTC Extrication Team

The Service’s RTC Extication Team scored another podium place at last weekend’s UKRO Extrciation and Trauma Challenge in the West Midlands.

The team finished in second place, after performing well in all three assessable categories; command, medical and technical. They were only pipped to the post by Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

Tops teams from London, Lincolnshire, Hampshire and Hereford & Worcester FRS’s attended the event, as well as the best four teams from West Midlands FRS.

Divisional Officer Nigel Dilley, RTC Extrication Team Manager, said,

“This is another great result for the team. Everyone did an excellent job to achieve yet another podium finish, this time nudging ahead of Lincolnshire who took the top place at the Regional Challenge in June, and Hampshire who have recently returned from Luxembourg as the European Extrication Champions.

“This was a good solid start in preparation for the UKRO Nationals in two months’ time.

“I want to say a big well done to Kev Mitson our team leader, Antony Clement and Jez Tuckwell (Lead and 2nd Medic), and Andy Edwards, Kelvin Tuckwell and Mick Lawrence (the ‘Techies).

“Also many thanks to Simon Falzon from Ford Motor Company and Martin Jones from Vimpex who have continued in supporting us to achieve some excellent results.”
