Essex fire stations to give festive advice at Christmas open days

Firefighters from Waltham Abbey and Epping are hosting special Christmas fire station open days this December.

The open days will include live chip pan fire demonstrations, games and activities, charity teddy bear parachute jumps and a Santa’s grotto. Firefighters will also be on hand to give out home fire safety advice and specific Christmas fire safety tips.

Leading Firefighter Bernie Manning from Waltham Abbey Fire Station said: “Open days are a great opportunity for us to meet members of our local community. We have lots of fun activities for children, and we will be talking to everyone we can to help them stay safe this Christmas. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our fun-filled day.”

Both fire stations will be raising money for charity. Epping Fire Station are raising money for the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance. Waltham Abbey Fire Service will be serving home-made cakes and refreshments to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support charity.
