Essex Fire Museum receives Arts Council Accreditation

Essex Fire Museum has been awarded Full Accreditation from the Arts Council meaning that it is managed to the highest standard.

The museum, which is based at Grays Fire Station and has been running since 2007,  houses a collection which includes firefighting equipment from through the ages and memorabilia of firefighting in Essex from the formation of Essex Fire Service to the present day.

The award recognises that the museum is sustainable, focused and trusted and offers a fantastic visitor experience. It now takes its place among the 1,534 museums nationwide which have achieved this accreditation.

Andrea MacAlister, Museum manager, said: “We are delighted to have received this accreditation. We knew from the reactions and compliments we get from visitors that we offer a great experience but to have official Arts Council accreditation like this is a real boost for everyone involved.

“I would like to thank our Collections Officer Roger Pickett and all the volunteers who work so hard to make the museum so successful. This accreditation is testament to all the hours and love they have poured into the museum.”
