The first young people in the country to complete Duke of Edinburgh Silver through a fire service received their awards at a special ceremony held at Service Headquarters on Friday September 6.
Twelve young firefighters from Great Baddow were presented with their awards by ACFO Paul Hill and Christian Scott, Director of South East Duke of Edinburgh.
Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards were also presented to three young people from Down Syndrome Extra 21.
Karl Amos, Lead Youth Instructor, said: “We are the only Fire Service in the country which is accredited to award Silver Duke of Edinburgh and this is the first group who have completed the award.
“They have all done extremely well. It takes real dedication to complete the award. There are four sections.
“The presentation evening was to celebrate that achievement and present them with their awards in front of an audience of their proud parents. It went really well and was a fitting way to celebrate the achievement of these young people in earning these awards.”
