Dementia Action Alliance in Tendring
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service has formed part of an action group to help improve the lives of people with dementia in Tendring.
The Service has joined the Tendring Dementia Action Alliance along with partner organisations that include Essex Police, Alzheimer’s Society, North Essex Partnership Trust, Anglian Community Enterprise and CVS Tendring.
The group was launched at Clacton Police Station this month to help and give support to people with dementia in the district.
Tendring Dementia Action Alliance will meet monthly to discuss ways of collaborating on projects to keep people with dementia safer and less isolated within their communities.
Les Nicoll, ECFRS Community Connector, said: “The partnership will allow the Service to work closely with our partners to look at problems that affect people with dementia at a local level.
“We can help by educating the public about the issues surrounding dementia and by working with people who have dementia, and their carers, to teach them how they can be safer in their communities.
“Every member of our alliance has something different to offer to help improve the lives of vulnerable people in Tendring.”
Jadie Allenby, Alzheimer's Society's Services Manager for North and Mid Essex, said: "I believe that the Tendring Dementia Action Alliance could become one of the most vibrant in Essex.
"There is a huge amount of goodwill, positivity and enthusiasm and it is very exciting to think about how lots of different organisations could work together to make Tendring a dementia friendly community."
